Gallery 1 : Mystic Rituals

In his upcoming show " Mystic Rituals" Hazle explores new avenues in his art practice.
Hi subject conceptually depicts a sequence of unique activities; revolving around physical stance and gestures performed ritualistically and encapsulated in a sequestered mystical place.

Hazle's genre` of subject and influence revolves around diverse cross cultural imagery, historically and geographically. Drawing from his research he is inspired to create his own narrative and imagery which depicts and imaginary world of mystical hybrids and otherworldly paintings and sculptures.

In Rites of Passage, Hazle explores themes of transition from one place to another. In this series, he draws inspiration from across various cultures to create his own set of personal Idols or Gods.

Delving into the spiritual world by creating narrative heavy paintings and ceramics of his characters exploring their experiences of prayer, worship and ceremony. 

Often vibrant and highly contrasting, these paintings and sculptures depict a mystical futuristic hybrid, an abstracted atmosphere of landscapes and otherworldly figures which emerge from out of colourful shapes and patterns.

Hazle is exploring his struggle with religion by creating his own personal set of Idols and Gods. These characters play out theatrical representations of emotions right on their surface, like the emojis of our technological deities we see Happy, Sad, Good and Bad, depictions of the internal struggles that face us on earth and the juxtaposition of faith and immorality.

Hazle's solo exhibition called "SPIRITUAL ALCHEMY" its' a reference to a relationship created between the human physical and non-physical world- for example "ones spiritual self with the outside world". To this end, his artistic vision in this series is a portrayal of a metamorphosis of mankind's evolution to a mythical creature or being. Such beings I have stylised through ethnic symbolism as tribal in character.

His vision is portrayed by an image as he sees it; which encapsulates a harmonious, peaceful existence of mythical, spiritual beings ( a projection of our higher spiritual selves); united as one with themselves harmoniously at peace in mind, body, soul in an unadulterated natural world

"Natural Habits of Masked Warriors" He believes nature has the ability to reflect timely messages and one needs to be receptive to those messages; recognising that we are all an integral part of nature. Therefore in these works employing symbols from nature my aim has been to portray imagery of the tribe’s life in their pure, natural world. He sees symbolism in nature as subtle and his aim has been to convey a deeper meaning from a mysterious ethereal real…. “ What are they trying to tell us”?

This premier exhibition celebrates both the work of eight emerging artists and in a wider temporal sense, a cultural shift. An exhibition concerned with aliens and outer-space, alienation, the spread of virus in our contemporary milieu (both digitally and physically), migration, simulacrum, robots, retro futurism, radical transparency, and loss of data.

Progress increases the liminal abilities of movement as our contemporary world sees populations shifting and relocating while data and information moves and removes itself constantly. What is the relationship between an internet virus and a globally sweeping infective disease? Is an alien really from outer-space, or is this a body created via alienation. Does all of this data really carve out new futures? How much is a re-living, a copy, an enactment of things past. 

The selection of artists in this exhibition seek out answers to these questions while positing what our future can be, while imbedded within digitised technological demands.
